In the end, it does not significantly impact your web browsing except for maybe a little added latency to your network. What’s happening is after you activate that setting, your router starts directing all your internet traffic through AdGuard’s DNS service. I don’t mean to speak down to you, but in case you don’t understand what that means, in short yes it’s safe for your router and devices. I’m not sure if any other changes are applied, but that is the only one I noticed. From a little experimenting, the only change I saw that happened when you select the AdGuard setting from the app like you mention is that it fills the DNS portion under the WAN settings to the AdGuard default DNS.
